As indicating the movement in land values locally, a subdivision of Green's Estate, known as "The Sands," an extension of Tahuna suburb, advertised last Wednesday in lots, was disposed of wuh the exception of 19 lots, by noon to-day, prices ranging from £450 to £40. A COLD SNAP. NELSON, this day. A cold snap and frost have done damage to potatoes, tomatoes, beans, etc. THE WAITEMATA CASE. CHMSTCHTIRCH, this day. At the Magistrate's Court this morning the case Maxwell v. Union Steamship Company, claim of £25 for wages and alleged wrongful dismissal from the Waitemata at Newcastle, was again adjourned sine die, so that application might be made to the Supreme Court to have the case heard by that tribunal. The papers have been sent to Wellington, but the formal order has not been received. COMPENSATION AWARDED. WELLINGTON, this day. The owners of Penearrow Quarry have been awarded £700 compensation against the Railway Department, which took the property in order to obtain stone for straightening the Hutt line. RAILWAY DEPARTMENT PROSECUTIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. In the Magistrate's Court to-day, Au- ' Justus Doyie was fined ( £1 and 3/ j casts for trespassing on the railway line i —necessitating the stopping of a train. IT. D.
