A CARELESS CHAUFFEUR.
EIGHT MOUTHS' IMPRISONMENT. TEE DISASTER TO TERRITORIALS. LOXDOX, October 16. Arthur J. M. Sautch, of Battersea, the chauffeur who drove the motor-ran at the Jalisbury Plain which caused disaster miong a number of Territorial troops on August 12. has been sentenced to eight months' imprisonment for manslaughter. The disaster occurred at 4 o'clock or :he morning of August 12, when a de :achment of 50 London Territorials, en limped at Bulford, was run into by a ■nntor van, whirh flew down a steep lill upon them. Some heard the whirr if the wheels, nnd dashed for safety. jut 30 were run dnwn by the Juggerlaut. one being killed and several of the others very badly injured. The ■hauffeur was hnnded over to the police, md the jury, at the inquest on Ounner S. A. Snow, who was killed, expressed he opinion that there had been gray" negligence on the part of thi» driver of :he cp.r.
