FIRE ON THE SURREY.
ENGINEROOM FLOODED. MELBOURNE, October 17. The quenching of the fire on the Surrey was delayed by a plug in the bulkhead blowing out, allowing the water to flood the engineroom. While the plug was being refixed the fire regained strength, and was not got under till early this morning The damaged cargo includes a quantity of wool. (Received 9.20 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The Surrey is now pumped out, and the list has disappeared, indicating that the. vessel is now off the sandbank on which she settled.
