THE RTTPINBBH DONFJ AT THK i«p« GRAND .TTJNCTION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Thursday. A rumour was current this morning to the effect that the extension of the north crosscut on No. 5 level pf the Irtand Junction mine had been resumed, but on making inquiries at the mine this afternoon I ascertained that such was not the case. I understand, however, that, as a result of a survey of the winze mention of which appeared in Wednesday's "Star," this crosscut will probably be continued to-morrow morning. The conclusion arrived at as the result ot the survey is that the Martha lode proper lies ahead of the present point of operations in the crosscut, and that the recent ore body intersected is not identical with the Martha. MT. WELCOME. The following telegram was received from the manager of the Mt. Welcome Mine, Coromandel, this morning: — "First shot in tho winze revealed •trong blotches and dabs going down."

WAIQTAHI. The manager telegraphed yesterday afternoon.: ''Selected five pounds of picked stone from the rise cm the hangingwall leader at 4* level." THAMES DEEP LEVELS. Mr. J. B. Sheath,- secretary of the Thames Deep Levels Committee, received the following telegram from the Minister for Mines this morning:—"Copy of agreement and regulations Thames deep levels crosscut being posted 'by to-morrow's mail.—(Signed) R. McKenzie, Minister for Mines, Wellington."
