NORTHERN UNION GAME.
A. AND B. MATCH. An A. and B, trial match under the auspices or the Auckland Eugby League (Northern Union code) was held at Victoria Park on Saturday, to enable the selector to choose a team to represent Auckland against Taranaki on Saturday next- The game was not a good exhibition of the new code, nor was this to be expected in a trial match, but the numerous ewlft transfers gave the two or three hundred ipectators asembled an opportunity of gathering an idea of the possibilities of the game. The result was a matter of little consequence to the spectators, and little enthusiasm was hown about the scoring, flashes of good play being more to their liking. The 33. team played with mort dash, and secured a good lead, and, although the A's lessened the gap towards the close the Possibles succeeded In winning by 37 points to 29 points. Prior to the A and B match, a novices game between North Shore and combined Auckland was played, and resulted In a win for North Shore by 20 points to S. After the game. Mr. W. Wynyard (sole selector) picked the following team to represent Auckland aginet Taraiaki nest Saturday at Victoria Park: — I Full back, Houghton. I Three-quarters, Lholly, Woodward, Carlaw.
