FOOTBALL.
I SYDNEY UNIVERSITY TEAM'S TOUR. The Itinerary of the coming tour of New Zealand of the Sydney University footballers has now been arranged. The team will arrive In Wellington on Wednesday August 25, leaving the same night for bunedln. The dates of the various matches are as follows: Otago University College. August •17, at Dunedin; Otago fifteen, September 1, at Dunedin; New Zealand University Colleges, September 4, at Dunedin; Canterbury College. September S. at Chrlstehnrch; New Zealand University Colleges. September 11, at Wellington; Auckland University. September 15, at Auckland; Auckland City Club. September 18, at Auckland. On Monday, September 20, the visitors will leave for Sydney. LEAGUE FOOTBALL. A successful meeting was held In the I Leys Institute. Ponsonby. last night, in connection with the formation of a team to play under Northern Union Rugby rules. There were about 30 supporters present. Mr. A. Thompson occupied the chair. After discussion. It was decided, on the motion of Mr. Carlaw, seconded by Mr. Hunter, that a club be formed, to he called the Ponsonby United F.C., and that the subscription for playing members be 1/. and of boit members 5/. The following officers wero **lected: Secretary. Mr. B. Brigham; treasurer. Mr. P. Ussher; committee, Messrs. C. Dunning. A. Carlaw. J. Stanaway, and S. W. Buck. Another meeting will be called next week to enrol members.
