THE PREMIER THREATENED.

"I HAVE BEEN RUINED BY YOU." TEXT OF THE FIKST LETTER. . (By Telegraph.—Ptess Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The following letter, which has been placed at the disposal of the "New Zealand Times," throws light on the recent statements that have been published in reference to the alleged protection by Detective Cassells of the Prime Minister os his visit to London: — "Sir J. G. Ward, P. 0., K.C.M.G., Prime Minister, New Zealand. Right Hon. Sir, —Doubtless you will remember mc as having been last year introduced to you by my friend, the Right Hon. Thos. Bur't, M.P., by letter, at the Cecil, in London. Then you pledged mc your influence and interest if I would go ito New Zealand. You know how you have carried out your pledge. I have been ruined by you. I have been separated from my family for the time intervening, have broken my health, am beggared, and on receipt of the enclosed letter just received have arranged 'to work my passage' Home to my unfortunate family. The knowleHge that the good woman whose letter I enclose, who was always till I met you kept in comfort befitting her feeble condition, is now in a lodginghouse with my innocent child without a shilling, and I all these 16,000 miles from them, unable to aid them in any way, must be pleasing to a man of your nature. Were I less of a Christian than I am, I would go and shoot you down like the dog that you are. I shall, however, leave you to Him 'wHo is not mocked.' The enclosed letter please read to your family. It doubtless will amuse them. Keep it, and when your final hour may come—it cannot in God's mercy be much longer delayed—may its tragedy of which you are guilty be with your blackened soul as it passes into eternity. 'God is not mocked.'" The letter was signed with the full name of the sender.
