A CARRIER'S FAILURE.

The statement of George Alexander Dunn, carrier, of Northeote, who has filed.: a petition in bankruptcy, has been .«■- ■ ceived by the Official Assignee. The insolvent's statement shows his liabilities tobe £265 16/8 owing to 22 unsecured'credv . tors, and assets £70. In his sworn deposi-, tion he states that he started as a carrier. at Northeote in June, 1902„ and took M | J. Fischer into partnership in 1904. In-. June, 1905, £100 was borrowed on a p-n. from Mr E. J. Hobbs, £50 of which wa* repaid during the partnership. In Sep-;. tember, 1906, Mr Fischer withdrew, Hail ceiving £100, borrowed for the purpose by. bankrupt from Mr W. Parrish, junr.,.»» . his share of the business. The liabilities , at this time were about £200 and the outstanding debts about £180. Matters went , fairly well till the winter of 1907, when, | owing to illness and the high price:of , horsefeed, bankrupt began to go behind.. In January, 1909, Messrs J. J. c f dl ß stopped his credit for coal, resulting in a serious falling-off in his business. Owuig to some of his creditors pressing for payment, and his landlord putting in the bailiff, he was forced to file his schedule. Bankrupt stated he had a wife and six children dependent upon him. He had no offer to make his creditors, as he was perfectly penniless. The first meeting ol creditors will be held on Friday next at 2.30 p.m.
