SOCIAL EVENING. | As a finale to the tournament, and to entertain the country visitors, a social evening was spent in the Auckland Club's! pavilion last night, proving a thorough and enjoyable eucceßS. Mr A. M. Bryden (sec-1 retary of the Assoclnion) pre-1 sided, among the the visiting bowlers representatives being present from Hamilton, Cambridge, Waihi, and Rotorua. Among | the many toasts fittingly honoured were i "The King and Empire," "The Visitors," proposed by Mr. A. M. Bryden. and re-1 sponded to by Mr. Gardener, of Rotorua,! I nnd Mr. Parr, of Hamilton, both gentlemen | speaking in high praise of the excellent work achieved by the A.P.8.A., and of the i unremitting energy shown by the executive I officers lv seeing that all went smoothly I and satisfactorily. It was to be hoped, said Mr. Parr, that the rumoured retire- j ment of Mr. Bryden from the secretariat! I had no foundation. "The Auckland Provincial Bowling Association" was proposed j by Mr. Pnrr, and responded fo by Mr. , Bryden, and "The Champion' of Champions" 1 proposed by Mr. R. Eagleton, and responded to by Mr. Clarke. Conversation, toasts, J and anecdote were varied by musical and | elocutionary contributions by Messrs. P. Harris, A. McElwain, A. J. Black, A. White. R. Eagleton, Geo. Poorc, and Herbert Bloy, "Auld Lang Syne" concluding one of the happiest and most successful bowling gatherings that have been held under tie auspices of the A.P.B.A. PONSONBY GREEN. In the final of the two-bowl singles at ■the Ponsonby green yesterday, J. Veale beat 6. J. Gorman by two games to one. CARLTON WINTER GREEN. A ten-rink match took place on the Carlton winter green yesterday, a thoroughly . enjoyable day being spent by those partici- : pating. The following are the results:— Sharpies, Goldsmith, Kent, Ledlngham j (skip) secured first prize, with 7 wins and I 2 losses, while a tie took place for the second place between Morton, Edgcumbe, Ronayne, and Osmond (skip) and Schischka, Keeslng, White, and Perrltt (skip). The aggregate prize for lowest number of points scored against any team was won by Kayall. Gribblc, Arey, Young (skip), with 41 points i scored against them for the nine matches.
