WIN FOR M.C.C.

BY THREE WICKETS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON.. May 22. M.C.C. beat the Australians by three wickets. On the resumption to-day the weather was brilliant and the wicket lively, but the attendance was poor at the start, increasing, however, to 4000 in the afternoon. Commencing carefully, Tarrant and Huish soon livened up, but keen fielding by the Australians kept down the runs. The first wicket fell for 52 runs, after 65 minutes' play, and the second for 57. Tarrant batted for 150 minutes, playing a dogged game. He survived two appeals for leg-before by Armstrong, and gave an easy chance to Whitty, off Armstrong, when at 46. He finished by playing O'Connor on. The century was hoisted after two hours' batting. The third wicket fell for 115 runs. Warner contented himself with steady cricket, marred by an easy chance to Whitty, off O'Connor, when at 22. The others made a poor show. Following are the scores:— AUSTRALIA.—First Innings, 210.
