PONSONBY HOCKEY CLTJB. The second annual meeting of the members of the, Ponspnby Hockey Club was held In the Leys', Institute last, evening, and was well attended. Mr. C. H. Poole, M.P., presided. The annual report and bal-ance-sheet were submitted* and showed good progress, made duiing the last year, also that'the club is in a sound financial position. The report was adopted, and the. following officers Mr. C. H. Poole, M.P. (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs. Win. Cecil Leys, H. Cleal, and- w. B. Leyland; secretary and treasurer. 'Mr. H. J. Furness; selectors, Messrs. Murray ,nnd Davles; delegates to association, Messrs. Murray and Alison; committee, Messrs. Davis, Snkey, R. Wilson, and W. Alison; non, auditorj Mr. J. ' Gentles. It. was decided to reduce the member's subscription to 12/6 for seniors- and 10/-for, juniors. It Is. proposed to start play first Saturday after Easter. i- 1 METHODIST CHURCH. The quarterly, meeting of Auckland East Circuit was held at Mt.' BMen Church on Tuesay evening. A largely-attended meeting was presided over by the Rev. G. W. J. Spence. After deducting removals, the roll of members showed an Increase of two; the Sunday school roll also shQwed an. increase over last quarter. The "balance-sheet' exhibited a debit of £14 on the quarterns, transactions, but'a credit balance of £11 16/S was carried forward from a former surplus. Permisio'n. w-ai granted the trustees of Mt. Eden Church to eretft a schoolroom, and undertake necessary work in the way of church extension. The stewards were authorisea' to secure a parsonage for the second minister; also to arrange for pnlplt supplies by students. After a long discussion, it was resolved to adjourn fhe further, consideration of matters relating to Grafton-road parsonage to a special meeting at an early date. The annual soiree of the Otahuhu Presbyterian charge was held last night in the Public Hall. Otahuhu. A large gathering from all parts of the charge was present. At the public meeting after the tea' the Rev. A. Doull, M.A., minister of the charge, welcomed back the former minister. Rev. D. J. Steele. M.A.. now of Ranglora, at present on holiday. The Rev. Mr Steele congratulated both minister and congregation on the evidences of prosperity that he had, seen. Rev. A. A. Murray, of St. Andrew's, Auckland, also gave an address. Music was provided by visiting friends from Auckland. Votes of thanks were; accorded, to an" who had helped, on the motion of Mr I. Gray. Tho annual ■ meeting of the Auckland., Football League (Australian game) will be I held on Monday evening at the Sports Club at eight o'clock. " ■ ' / '
