Mountain King (cont.) 0/lOi.. 0/9 i MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Karangahake.—The Taukanl level is now In 529 ft. The country is the best we have yet seen at this level, being brown andesite. Interlaced with seams and leaders. About 15ft should take us to the No. 3 reef. The flow of water from the face is increasing. Tairua Golden Hills.—No. 1 reef, north. The continued increased prospects being met with Is a very Important development. The lode looks well, and appearances point to still further improvement. The distance in from crosscut Is 78ft. The rise is up 91ft, on ore showing good values. In the south-west and north-east crosscuts an improvement in both ends is noticeable, and from its position Davis' reef should soon be to hand. Work at battery site is being pushed on, and machinery arrived should be on site in a few days. Victoria.—The development works on the leader in the wall of No. 2 reef at the intermediate level below No. 2 are still proceeding. The leading stope is being carried along over the drive at the eastern end of these worklugs, and at this end the leader has crossed through the No. 2 reef Into the footwall. side. So far no great Improvement has taken place as regards the value of the ore, but the leader has opened out in size, and is' carrying a large quantity of bright blocky mineral, and looks promising. May Queen.—During the past week a survey has been made of the workings from the northern crosscut at the level of the Queen of Beauty shaft, and this has disclosed the fact thnt the lode being driven on eastward at this point is not the main No. 4 lode, but only a branch from It, and that the main portion on which the winze was sunk from the level above Is some 30ft In the wall at the end of the drive. A crosscut is now being driven to intersect the main body below the bottom of the winze so as to allow of a rise being put up to connect the two levels, which will then open up a large block of ground for stoplng operations. In the southern drive at this level the reef is at present broken up somewhat owing to a clay break having been Intersected running across It at a long angle. Crushing Is proceeding at the battery, Thf 'tgga »togT* No. 6 level are itlll
