LICENSING ELECTIONS.

CLOSING THE NOMINATIONS. Nominations close with the various registrars at 5 p.m. to-day for the election of candidates to the respective licensing committees for the city and suburban districts. Up to the time of going to Press, a considerable proportion of the expected nomrnatrons had already been received, and in one or two instances, it is considered probable that no more will come to hand. The elections, in cases where these are required, will be held on the 9th inst. CITY LICENSING DISTRICT. The undermentioned nominations have already been received by the City Registrar (Mr. H. G. Ralfe) : — Mr. James Jamieson, of 27, Upper Queen-street, funeral undertaker, has been nominated by Messrs. A. Johnstone (Nixon-street), W. J. Houston (Karangahape-road), G. H. Coldicutt (Karangahape-road), B. Stowermark (Queen-street), G. F. Campbell (Kara-ngahape-road). The nominators of Mr. Peter Edward Cheal. of 389, Queenstreet, Auckland, mining engineer and surveyor, are Messrs. F. L. Prime, J.P. (Government Life Insurance Buildings), J. Fawcus (Jervois-road), R. B. Shalder (389, Queen-street), and E. Tremain (Sheridan-street). Mrs. Emily Elizabeth Nicol, of No. 1. Yarborough-street, Ponsonby. nurse, has ns nominators for her candidature at the election, Mrs. E. Hayes (Centre-street), Mrs. F. I. McAnley" (Clarence-street), Messrs. T. O'Sh'ea (Clarence-street), and H. L. Horning (Newtcm-road). The nominators of Mr. John Patterson, England-street, Ponsonby, blacksmith, are Messrs. James Magee (Pittstreet), A. G. S. Black (Canada-street), T. H. Browne (Cobden-street), Mrs. H. Perkins (Upper Queen-street). WAITEMATA. It is not anticipated that there will be an election in the Waitemata electorate, and up till 3 o'clock the only nominations received were:—Messrs. Alexander Alison, Robert Humphreys Duder, John Edson, Joseph Cochrane Macky, and George Edward White. The whole of the gentlemen nominated are retiring members. CITY DISTRICT. It is understood that the nominations will be received this afternoon of Messrs. J. Bagnall, J. M. Menffle, J. J. Holland, W. O. Somers and Dr. King, comprising what is known as the Citizens' League ticket, and of Messrs. M. Casep, W. J. cßes, Graves Aickin and A. Rosser, who (With Mr. P. E. Cheal) form tbe "temperate " ticket. MANTTKAU. Mr. S. J. Brookfield, Returning Officer for Manukau, has received the nominations for two tickets at the coming election. The nominations have been entered of Messrs. Angus Gordon, Alfred Richard Harris. Duncan McLennan, Daniel Neilson. John Rowe, these calling themselves the "Independent Ticket." Messrs. George Herbert Fleming, Joseph Flannagan, Denis Hattaway, Wm. Geo. Scott, Wm. Westney, comprising what is known as the "Temperance Ticket," have also been duly nominated. It is not expected that more nominations will be received in this district. BAY OF ISLANDS. IvaWAKAWA, this day. The following names have been received up till now as candidates by tne returning officer for the Bay of Islands licensing election of March 9: G. F. Dickeson, W. R. Grigg, R. Hall, T. Hartley; T. Lane, Father Mackenzie, T. McCready, A. H. Morgan, John Reid, W. Saies, G. Wilkinson, R. Wrathall.
