PROFESSIONALISM IN SPORT.

THE ATTITUDE OF SCOTLAND. INTERNATIONAL BOARD TO MEET. LONDON, January 19. In regard to the cancellation of the Scottish football fixture, because the English Union had sanctioned payments to the All Blacks and Wallabies of a guinea a week, besides expenses, the sub-com-mittee of the English Union has decided that the matter must be referred to the full committee. Meanwhile they intimate that three shillings will be allowed daily for the petty expenses of players, which would not be incurred if they were at home. The allowance, it is pointed out, is in nowise a source of profit, but merely saves the manager of a team trouble in paying daily small legitimate items. The arbitrary cancellation of the international fixture and the accusation of professionalism are, adds the committee, questions for the International Board, which will be summoned as soon as prac- j ticable.
