SOUTH CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB'S SPRING MEETING. FIEST DAY. (By Telegraph.—.Press Association.) TIMAItTJ, Wednesday. The South Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting was opened to-day, the weather being tine and the attendance larj-e. The following are the results of the racing:— Summer Handicap —Luiula, 8.4, 1; Stanley, 7.5, 2; Steplink, 7.0. 3. All started. Liiida wou easily. Shorts Handicap.—Silkweb. 5.6, 1; Cute, 7.7, 2; Ceiise and Blue, 8.5, ;!. All started. Silkweb won by three lengths.
Timaru Handicap.— Harvest, 7.11. 1; Outlander, S.O, ■!; All lions, S.O, :i. All started. Harvest won by a bare half-length.
Hopeful Stakes (for two-year-olds),— Boutade, S.o, l: Cymlilform, 8.3, 2; Aiwy, S.o, y. Scratched: Caspian. Boutade won all the way.
President's Welter Handicap.—Czar Kolnhol, 9.4, 1; <\>ntender. 'J.J. 2; Tikitere. S.l', 3. Scratched: Sam Wellcr. Czar Kolouol won easily.
Washdykc Trot.—Silver Ribbon. 17s. 1; Miss Hay, 30s, 'J; iOs. 3. Scratched: Arnilda and lied ilaiu, Silver Ribbon wou easily.
Hack Race.—Love Wisely, 1; Vologda, 2 Bruci-. :!. Love Wisely won by a lehjrth.
Flying Handicap.—San Severo. G. 7, 1; Lupulitc, n.13. 2; Kilts, 7.2. ;t. Scratched: Volodia and Lioness. San Severo wou by a length.
