UREWERA COUNTRY.
100,000 ACRES OFFERED BY RUA. ACCEPTED BY THE GOVERNMENT. I (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) this day. Rua interviewed the native member this morning and offered 100,000 acres of land in the I'rewera Country for purchase by the Government to obtain money to : clear off liabilities and encumbrances '. against his people's property and to assist him in clearing and stocking- further areas.
The Hon. Mr Carroll snid he would accept the offer, and, on his return to Wellington, would place the matter before the department. Kiia assured the Native Minister that he would render the Government every assistance in opening up the country to settlement.
