BRITISH AND FOREIGN BIBLE SOCIETY. I*ist night: the Dcvonport Branch of the above society me-t in the Holy Trinity School house to hold its annual meeting. J The President (Key. T. Ewrsheri, M.A.) occupied the chair, and gave a shott' address. Key. s. Griffith*, hon. secretary, read the report, and Mr I". G. hon treasurer, read the statement of accounts, which showed that £8 1 -2 had been received by the Treasurer and Mr Wm. Rrakenrig, and paid over to Mr H. E. Edmfston, hon. general secretary. Mr ,1. Bennett, auditor, certified to the accounts. The new officers anil ronimitteV were elected as follows:—President. Mr U. Wilding; hon. secretary. Mr Alexander Iteid; hon. treasur-er. Mr K. U. liwington; auditor. Mr .1. Bennett.: commit tee. the above officials, and Rev. S. Griffiths, Rev. R. Taylor. Rev. T. E. Bertram. Rev. T. Kvershcd, M.A.. Mr Gelstouc. Mr T. Macky. ilr W\ Mitchell. Mr Henderson, Mrs Wilding. Miss Kirhworth. Miss Dansfnrri. and Mrs A. \V. Head, with power to add to their number. A collection was taken >ip. resulting in £1 V2/'2 for the funds, and a donation of £1 by Mr Gelstone. Rev. S. Griffiths proposed, and Key. ItTaylor seconded, a motion expressing very great, regret at the Key. T. Kversbed's proposed retirement on grounds of ill-heaitb. nod high appreciation of the valuable- and great service Mr Evershed had rendered to the Society, and The cause of Christian unity. Iluiitfr gave a. lecture on Palestine and F.ev. T. Fisher very generously operated his limelight views free of expense To the Bible Society. A vote of thanks to outgoing oflicers and the committee was passed, and the meeting closed with the , Benediction. This afternoon the Rev. R. H. i?. Hammond arrived direct from Aslib'iirton, via Miiin Trunk line, calling at Hamilton yesterday. Jlc will lecture on No-license in Asnburton this evening in the Tabernacle. Lost evening a full meeting of delegates from temperance societies was held in Pittstre«*T schoolroom to arrange for the demonstration to lie held next Saturday.
