The interment of the remains of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Knox took place at 3 o'clock this-afternoon at the Symdndsstreet cemetery, and was largely attended. Although it i 3 yet too soon to get full details as to the many bequests made for charitable and other objects, it is, as stated in our last issue, an open secret that a yery large sum of money has been left for that purpose. As a 1 matter of fact it is now known that the amount so left will be nearer £70,000 than £60,000, and that the benefits will spread over all the charities in Auckland irrespective of creed, also that various other deserving institutions will ' receive bequests. The items range, from sums of £500 for such institutions as the Veterans' Home and the Sailors' Home, up to as high as £20,000 for a hospital lor incurables. Mrs. Knox did not leave any children, her nearest surviving relatives being her nephew, Mr. George Russell, of College Hill, Miss Russell, who resided with her aunt, and Mrs. James McGee, of Pittstreet.
