DEATH OP MARSHAL NODZU. (Received 3-55 a-m.) TOKIO, October IS. s__ death is announced of Count Sodm, a member of the Supreme Army (\__3l, and general of the Fouth Army ___-_£ the Russo-Japanese war. SeSxa, who was 58 years of age, saw _ great deal of fighting. He was a colonel in the civil war of 1577. and delated the. Chinese in the battle of Pin—ang in 1594, taking supreme com_oa_ qij-he forces. General Yamagata __S recalled owing to his weak health. la. £_ Rosso-Japanese war he was ap]K_fed connnander of the Fourth Army, __ landed at Talienwan three months after the attack on Port Arthur. This army formed the centre of the Japanese _vance in Liaoyimg, and was the pivot of their turning movements till after Uf crowning victory at Mukden.
