BOY VICIOUSLY ATTACKED.
a The Melbourne police are.ing-Bring, intoi the statement of a boy named Arthur , Winters, aged 17 years, who was found , lying unconscious in Little BourkeVstreet, ! at the rear of the Post Office, by Mr. I'atterson. a driver in the _-np_oy_B_.it of the Metropolitan Gas Co.. Under the treatment of Dr. Wilson, at the hospital, the 1 lad regained his senses, and stated that be had been struck in the face by a man whom he had never seen before. The doc--1 tort examination disclosed the fact tha* . the boy's nose had been fractured, pror bably by a heavy direct blow, 'and tha* the base of his. skull had been -iteo fractured by the succeeding fall. The assault must have been ah _____di__g_y virions and violent one, and, if tbe lad's «_ory is correct, that he had. never seen the' man before, it would seem that his «____£____. - was a dangerous tunatic.
