HARBOUR BOARD.

' * . - - Tenders. —Messrs - McArthux's letters re 1 -tenders for dredges and cranes were re- ; j ferred to the Board iv committee. , ] Takapuna Tram and Perry Company.— The letter from the - Takapuna Tram and Ferry Company re right to use rails on ' the reclamation at CNetLFs Point, was rei ferred to the Board in committee. I Shelter Shed. —The letter from W. Fendall and Sons and others re shelter sheds > at Victoria wharf was referred to the - Board in committee. , Sports on Christmas Day.—The Ponsonby ' Swimming Onb wrote asking for the use ' of the Dock for an aquatic carnival on i Christmas Day. The chairman said this should be referred to the committee to ascertain whether it was intended to make money out of the sports. Mr Bradney said ' there was also another question. He was ■ not' very religious, but still- the Board , should consider the fact that this was to J be Christmas Day, and they should think of 1 people's opinions. Mr Basley agreed with - Mr Bradney. A Question of Berthage.—Captain Stenbridge, of the Silver Cloud, forwarded an account for ten guineas in connection the detention of his vessel, ' which was berthed on the eastern side of the railway wharf during a. nor'-east gale. He contended that he should have had a safer berth. The harbour master submitted a lengthy report explaining the circumstances. Mr Bradney said he did not wish to interfere with-' the harbour mister, ,trat he considered that berth was unsuitable. The master of the Isabel' had told him that he would rather forfeit his charter than berth there again. The Board decided to forward to the writer a copy of the harbour master's renort Horse question of providing a standing place for leader liorses. was raised by Mr Dacre, but the matter was referred to the committee, Mr Entrican contending that, it was not the duty of the Board to provide horse stands. Mr. Macfarlane asked what was the salary, and was informed that it was £3 per week, the hours of duty .75 to 80 per W.eek. .Mr, Dacre thought SO hours too long, but Mr, Macfarlane said.it did' not seem as if that was the general view when there were over 200 applicants. The names were referred to the committee to report six to the Board for the final selection. Hour of Meeting.—The standing orders were suspended to enable the chairman to move that in-future.the .Board meet at 2 p.m., instead of 3 p.m. The motion was adopted.
