a PROBABLY DUE TO I_AI___HQUA__ES. (By Telesraph.—Press Assoclatioa.l W___Z_CNGTON, this day. Tbe cable between Wanganui and Wakapuaka is broken about four miles from the iormer place. There have been several earthquake shocks at Wanganui lately, and the mishap is attributed, to them. This is the only Eerious interruption of the cable since the line was laid iin 1880. The steamer Tutanekai will re- | pair the break as soon as she finishes lay- | ing the cable to Dog Island lighthouse in Fovea us Straits, on which she is now en- j ■ gaged. The accident will not interfere I I with telegraph work, as five other cables are available. J
