CAMBRIDGE, Tuesday. WAiKATO FARMERS' CLUB. | The monthly meeting of the Wnifcato Farmers' Club was held last evening. There { was a fair attendance, the president (Mr. Robert Fisher) being in the chair. The president stated what had" been done regarding the Dairying Bill, arid that the members for the district bad been asked to oppose J the measure, as it would prove very harass- I ing and arbitrary. i A circular from the Farmers' tuion was j Tead, dealing with certain questions which it considered should be put to the candi- ' dates for Parliament. The president thought they were such as any candidate could agree to. He thought the dub should take a more decided stand In politics, even though there might be some differences of opinion amongst their own members. Mr. Butler said the farmers were a.power in the land, if united; but unless they were united they could do nothing in the matter of legislation. The chairman suggested copies of the questions should be sent to the committees who were running the candidates for the Tauranga electorate, and the suggestion was adopted. The following were appointed executive committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs M. Butler, R. Fisher; B. Allen, K. W. Tucker, W. Gray. K. Macky, and J. S. Fisher. Messrs. W. Harbutt and R. Dunning were elected members of the club. It was mentioned that a circular re the protection of deer was being circulated In the district, but none had been sent to the clnb. Mr. Norman Macky read a paper on "The i Advantage of Testing Dairy Cows." The Cambridge Croquet Club held its annual meeting last evening. Mrs. A. .1. Ed mnnds was elected president, and the following were appointed committee of management, Mesdames C. Hunter, McCullagh, McDermott, A. F. Stone. A. Bell. A. Wilkinson; and Bunyard; and Mrs. Fair was elected secretary. A vote of thanks was accorded the retiring president (Mrs. G. Hunter), also to the retiring secretary (Mr. p. Forbes), and the anditor (Mr. A. B. Crickett). It was decided to hold the opening day on the 28th Inst.
