MUTE MANAGERS' REPORTS. . "Walotahi. —No. 2 winze Is down on the Care reef, which is about 15in in width. No. 5 level: The drive west on the No. 5 reef is in a distance of 188 ft from the Mary Ann shaft, but nothing of a payable character has yet been met with. The third stope on the fpotwall dropper has been carried east of tie rise for a distance of 80ft, the reef being about 12in in width. On the hangingwall rib of the main reef the second stope has been carried along for a distance of 17ft, and although the quartz looks promising, no gold has been seen ; Cure reef: The No. 2 stope has been carried, west of the rise for a distance of 74ft, and good dabs and colours of. gold have been seen. No. 4 level: The rise on the hangingwall rib of the main reef is up a distance of 20ft. At this point the quartz has cut out, and the rise is being continued to see if it will make again. There is a small vein about 2in iv width going up into the hangingwall a few feet down the rise. The quartz is now split up into stringers, but a few 'da.be and .•olours of gold have been seen from the top of the rise on the main reef. " : Coronation.—There is no improvement in value of tie qnartz from tie drivel'.pn the hangingwall of the main reef. From the drive oh the new reef the dish prospects are poor. - - Dominion.—A. reef, has been met with .on the surface by prospecting. It is very heavily mineralised ore. The reef has been cut into about 2ft. It is splendid looking ore. The manager believes it to be the footwall of the reef he was driving for. Old Hanraki.—ln the drive south at the 300 ft level, the No. S reef averages Sin of good looking stone. The country rock is also good. Colours of gold were got by dish tests, and the manager is very hopeful this reef will improve southwards. In the fourth and fifth stopes. No." 0' reef has pinched up, the gronnd being very tight. In the third stope the west branch leader averages 3in of general ore, but no picked stone. The drive westward on the slide off Bunker's Hill No. 3 crosscut (at the 220 ft levei in the Hauraki), grittyt quartz is , coming in, which the manager takes as favourable indications that a reef is coming in. At the 160 ft level, Legge's reef Iβ still in two veins, with no material change. The manager Intends to sink a winsse on the reef at this level. Well's leader at the 100 ft level is small at present, but is of a favourable appearance. Golden Pati.—The winze pn the tribute lead is down 54ft. An additional 6ft have to l)e sunk. and» then a Btart -will lie made to open out and drive for a second block for sloping on Davies' lead. The rise on this lead is up 9ft. and has holed through to the adit level. A leading stope is now going east and west from the rise. The quartz occasionally shows a little gold. Tairua Monarch. —Active operations have commenced ou this property by way of trencniiis on a sft reef, which outcrops on the surface. When fully satisfied as to strike a level will fie driven to intersect this reef, giving it some 40ft vertical backs. As there are several other reefs beyond, which have already been exposed by trenching, the level proposed would serve the purpose of also intersecting these, and give bucks ranging from 200 to 300 ft vertical on the several lodes. The class of country encasing tne several reefs is in every way favourable for gold to exist, and should prove speedy for driving operations. Tairua Leads. —The manager states thin property is situated in a splendid position, being bounded by the Qolden Hills on the south and by the Tairua Reefs on the west, and there are several reefs traversing the mine on which a little surface work has been done. Kiri Kiri.—Good progress continues to be made with the extension of the low level towards the winze. The country continues of an excellent class, and the reef is about 2ft in thickness, and continues to improvn as it is driven ou. Good mineral is seen through the ore when taking it down. The quartz on the hangingwall is hard towards the footwall, and it Is easier broken. The ore is very similar in appearance to that which was broken out at the top level, where the good returns were obtained, tha country at the level that is being driven being favourable. It is expected the present level will open out a large block of ground available for stoping. Tairaa Conqueror.— Tne- main crosscut has been extended a further distance of 14ft for the week, makiflg the total distance now driven 176 ft. Several qnartz and flint leads have been met with during the week. " The country, however, still keeps very ticb.t, but is of-a good quality. Champion Mines.—The battery level is in 342 ft. The country passed through rei mains the same as that reported last week, j viz., carbonaceous shales, clays with seams of coal containing much iron, pyrites, and earthy matter. At the Smithy level a crosscut is being driven on the western side of the dyke. Tlie general values average from 25/ to cSO/ per ton. A large vug about Bft s 2ft in extent was met: with, fell of loose watery srit wxi yng, cwttwtej better ■nlvmn, due

Tpls discovery .is. very encouraging, and shows that at least pne.la'rge,'ore body is on the south section of the mine. Rising Snn.—Twomen iiave been engaged stripping the reef ln the No: 3 level going south. The reef ma strong.body• of ore, and gives good prospects of coarse gold.
