MR NECHOLSON'S GREY LYNN SPEECH.
(To the EditorJ Sir, —In- yonr last night's issjie there appeared a letter from F. M. King (secretary Single Tax Reform. league), starting -with, the fallowing statement; — "Mr C E. Spragg, whom Mr Oliver Nicholson favoured with, his attention dnring his address at St. George's Hall on Thursday evening," was, etc. This statement of Mr King's is absolutely tm--trne, and on a par with many other false statements respecting , mc which he has industriously edreniated throughout the electorate. I never gave Mr C. E. Spragg any attention whatever during my address. At the close of the same, the chairman of the meeting read out a question tviueh had been handed up to him by some person in the audience, referring to the appointment of a Mr Spragg, formerly a furniture dealer in Karamgahape-joad, as a Government meat inspector. Tie answer I gave ■was as follows:—"I know nothing about the matter, and can hardly credit that any such appointment has been made." The false and misleading statements made in such reckless fashion by my opponent's supporters tend to show the length, they are prepared to go to gain fheir ends in the contest for the Grey Lynn, seat.—l am, etc, OLIVER MCHOI^ON.
