Sir, —A most unwarrantable statement I is printed in the Mangouui and Kawa-' kawa. papers, stating that "the Gumdiggers' Union have unanimously de-1 cided to vote for the accred-' ited Government candidate, Mr V. Reed, and also have agreed to use all | the influence that can be -_rought to I bear in favour of the Government." As _ memtier oi the head branch of the, Union for the Bay of Island, electorate, and one who has uttendcd all meetings, I most emphatically contradict the report.
