BIG NORTHERS VOTES. IMPORTANT WORKS PROVIDED , FOB. (By Telegraph—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Supplementary Estimates were presented in the House of Representatives this morning. Once again they will he,: found tp come out with substantial appropriations for the JJofth. The Obinemuri river silting trouble is to be coped with, and £1000 is placed on the Estimates towards the cost of this work. £3500 is set aside for improvements to the recently acquired Slanawatu line. In full and final payment as compensation for wrongful imprisonment the sum of £5000 is provided for J. J.Meikle. 'The Government expenses in connection with the visit of the American fleet to Auckland are coTwed by a vote of £4500, and the subsidy to local bodies by a vote of £2750. .The remission of the light dues on the colliers to the American fleet necessitated a vote of £281. The Hairukau harbour is to be dredged near the Onehunga wharf, and for this purpose £1000 is placed on the Estimates. An additional subsidy of £1547 is granted to the Alexandra Home. Auckland. A £50 grant is provided towards the expenses of Cadet Friar, shooting at Bisley. £1100 is set aside for the purchase of lands for additions to the Tauranga experimental station. The balance of the Auckland Art Gallery subsidy is put down at £343. GENERAL NORTHERN VOTES.
