ONEHUNGA S.M. COURT.
(Before Mr. H. W. Northcroft, S.M.). CHEAP GRAZING. Onehunga residents have a faculty for endeavouring to obtain iree grazing tor j their stock, and under the by-law which j prohibits persons tethering animals to pasture in public places, Alfred Duff waa required to answer a charge of tethering a horse in Chamberlain-avenue. The Borough Inspector stated that the offender had been warned before. Mr. Yockney (Town Clerk), who appeared for the prosecuting municipality, eaid that a lot of the residents appeared to think that they could get free grazing. The defendant was fined 10/ and costs. HOWES v. STOCKLEY. •In the case, Geoge James Howes v. John Williams Stockley, in which the former charged the latter under section 34 of tiie Municipal Corporations Act, with the committal of a nuisance, the defendant was fined 10/, and costs £1 16/. The case had been adjourned for t.fce decision of a' point raised that a private person could not take action under this section. Mr. Glakter appeared for the plaintiff, and' Mr. Hackett for the defence. A DEBT CASE. James Glanfield obtained judgment i against Alfred Allen for £2 5/. A BAKER'S OVEN. Stonex and White, for whom Mr Williamson appeared, sought to recover from William E. Stevenson, baker, of Taunrarunui (Mr I/undon), the sum of £24 18/, being the value of re-erecting and altering a baker's oven. Corespondence extend- ! ing over a considerable period was put in, inciumng two letters promising payment. For the defence it was sought to show that tlie charge was excessive. Judgment for plaintiff -was given for the amount claimed with costs, his Worship remarking that the time of the Court had been wasted and that the defence wm a •huafße.
