CONSUMPTION CONGRESS.
FRAUGHT WITH HOPE. (Received 8.12 a.m.) NEW YORK, October 4. President Roosevelt, addressing the International Congress on Tuberculosis at Washington declared that no gathering was fraught with greater hope for the welfare of the world at large. The International Congress on Tuberculosis opened on September 21, and will be continued until October 12. Seven of the United States Government Departments participate. The Congress is divided into seven departments, each of which studies the disease in one of the following j aspects: Hygienic, social, economic, and industrial, State and municipal control, the disease in animals and its relation to man. An exhibition is held to illustrate the modes of treating tuberculosis, hygienic houses, sanatoria, etc., and prizes and certificates will be given for the best exhibits.
