THE MEDICAL BOYCOTT.
OIiEKHALi STATEMENT BY THE BMJI. ..,. ur^^ The following official reply to the statements made at the meeting on Thursday of doctors not connected with the Medical Association, and the articles on the subject published in our columns, has been issued:— "During this -week, at a meeting of the Association, unusually well attended, on account of other matters, the statements in the 'Auckland Star* were incidentally referred to. The suggestion was j made that they should be denied, but tha feeling of the meeting was so distinct that such manifestly incorrect and mis- \ leading assertions needed no refutation -that the matter passed without further, reference. "A direct denial is given by officials of the Association to the assertion tiiat nurses, chemists, or dispensers are in any ' •way coerced by the Association. "With regard to aid in any real emer- j gency, the Association has always held! that a patient's interest, where life is endangered, shall take precedence of any | other consideration. A member in one of the southern districts of the Assotria- j tion received severe censure from his I fellow members for acting otherwise. "The members of the Association claim j the right, as individuals, to decline to be ' coerced into consultations they object to." ____________ j
