The Lusitania, on her August voyage to New York, created a new record by steaming 650 nautical miles between noon on Sunday and noon on Monday. Her average speed was 25.66 knots. The previous record—also the Lusitania _—■ was 643 nautical miles. What is claimed to be the smallest electric motor in the world is in the possession of a Texas electrician and watchmaker, who made it as a scarfs pin. It weighs one pennyweight and three grains, and is run by a current from a small silver chloride battery. Germany' exported 552 big locomotives and 395 small locomotives during the last year, and about 3600 tons of locomotive parts. The whole brought in nearly £1,800,000. Italy was the largest consumer, with France next, and then Brazil, the Argentine Republic and Chili. Mr. C. W. and Mrs. Goodson were passengers this morning by the Rotorua express.
