PAY OP THE OFFICERS. (Received 9.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The judgment of the Industrial Court in the claim of the Merchants' Service Guild against the Coastal Steamship companies for better pay and improved working conditions, awarded increased pay to .masters and officers, but not to the extent demanded. The judgment also to some.extent varied the working conditions. Ths award declines to concede preference to guild members. The president of the Court incidentally declared the late strike against the coastal companies to be illegal.
