DANGER IN DRUGS.

The danger of taking powerful drngi without medical advice was pointed out at a recent inquest at Clapham, London, on Welwyn Thomas Jelf, an engine driver, forty-three years old. The widow said that her husband had j been suffering from influenza, and had ' been attended by a doctor. He had. a severe headache, and asked for a "Daisy powder." He had taken them before, and had obtained relief from them. She got him a powder, and shortly after taking it he died. Dr. Wilkins, of Liilieshall-road, Clap-, ham Common, said that he had attended Jelf for influenza, and was not surprised at his death when he heard that he had taken a "Daiey powder." / "They contain an extremely dangerous drug—acetaniiid," he said, "and there are several fatal cases on record. They act powerfully on a weak heart. The official dose is from one to three grains, hat some of these powders have been found to contain from 71 to 10 grains. - Dr. "Wilkins said death was caused by a weak heart depressed "by influenza, and that it was -by the drug.
