SINGULAR MONEY LENDING CASE.

W. 1 Bishop, S_V-.. to-day, t-o sue for the re- j corery oi .220 from Mary Suiter, being; money alleged to have been lent to. defendant and interest thereon. Plaintiff stated that on April 12. 19Q2, Mr. ! Bruges obtained £220 from him to lend to defendant for one month, and a fe w days later he received back £ 22. The £220 was lent on security supposed to lave been deported with Bruges by a Mr. Lawrence, on behaif of Mrs. Suiter. and out of the £.> he received. £ 1 was paid for the transfer of that security. He had never seen principal nor interest since, though his cheque for £220, which he produced, had been cashed. He never saw Mr.. Suiter about the loan at all. and never received any -Omnmnieation from her. Mary Suiter said she never authorised Bruges to borrow £220 on her behalf. She had lent money through Bruges. Hr. Ollivier had sent for her to come aad prove as a creditor. She never had V- of this money, and did not know Cariett. She got practically the whole of her money and interest tack.

The Magistrate: The whole thing is • fraud, a barefaced fraud, and Mrs. Suiter is not to blame. It is a flagrant «ad dbgrraceful fraud jn someone's part. *ad plaintiff ought to prosecute the party responsible. Plaintiff would be nonsuited.
