- ■ ■ ■ - ■■ MR. ADAM COWAN. (By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyrtght.) (Received 9.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The death occurred on Saturday of Mr. Adam Cowan, the well-known theatrical manager, from pneumonia.. A cable was received on Saturday night by Mr. Jas. Mac-Mahon announcing Mr. Cowan's death. The untimely close of the deceased managers career will be severely felt by his countless friends, both in and out of the theatrical profession, his generous and kindly disposition having endeared him to all who had the pleasure of meeting hiiu. Mrs. Cowan, who lives in Christchurch. in response to an urgent message received from Mr. Geach iast week, arrived here by the Manapouri this morning, en route to Sydney by -to-d-ay's boat, and in Mr. MaeMahon's absence Mr. G. D. Tortus and Mr. W. J. Lincoln met her upon arrival, and broke the sad news of her husband's death. Mr. Cowan, up till the time of his fatal illness, was managing Mr. frank Thornton's Sydney season at rfie Palace Thea:tre. He was 42 years of age, and was a native of Dumfries.
