NORTH ISLAND EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.

'~. CAMBRIDGE, Monday. . The fourteenth week of the above competition concluded on Friday last. The-follow-ing particulars are supplied by the., secretary (Mr A. B. Trythall):— The number.of eggs laid during the week was 1566, being an average .of . 22.21 per, pen. The number of eggs laid since the loth of May last, when the competition started,is 13.860, an average of 210 eggs per pen. The highest' layings for the week were.:— Light Breeds-.-"All these were White Leghorns—Mrs 3. Salt 31, •W. -Knight 31, -E. B. Hill 30, G. Bobertson 30, W. G. Gdbdwin 30. Heavy Breeds: Cambridge Chamber of Commerce,' White Orpingtons, 28; Mrs J. Mall," Black Orpingtons, 23; Waikato Central Agricultural Association, Black Orpingtons, 27; W. Ferguson, Silver Wyandottes, 27; E. Veale, Black Orpingtons, 27; "W. A.. Nixon, Silver. Wyandottes, 27; Dr. E. E. Roberts,.. White Orpingtons, 27. -.. ' The leading pens to date are:—Light Breeds: These are all White Leghorns—Harrison and Gratton 356, RBrowne 346, "Waikato Independent" 316, C. b." Beatson 287, E. B. Hill 285. Heavy Breeds': E. Veale, Black Orpingtons, 359; Miss 0.. Roberts, Silver Wyandottes, 321; Cambridge Chamber of' Commerce, White Orpingtons, 321; iluller Bros., 280. The weather during the week was favourable.
