Tenders' a-re announced by the Auckland Education Board, to close at noon on Tuesday, September 1, for the erection of a school building at Edendale. These will be considered by the Board at the. meeting 'on the following day, and should a tender be accepted, the building will bo finished in time for opening aftet the Christmas vacation. The plans, which have been drawn up by the Board's architect (Mr John Farrell) show that the building will be of one storey, and alternative tenders are being invited in wood and brick, the former to be accompanied -with brick foundations. The main door opens into a main central entrance, ■with large parch accommodation, the headmaster's room being centrally situated opposite the front door in such a position as to be easily accessible from the class-rooms and forrisitorc. There are four class-rooms, one at the back 45ft by 26ft (suitable for ultimate subdivision), a se.cond 38ft by 24ft, and two others each 26ft by 24ft on the right of the main entrance, the whole providing accommodation for about 300 pupils (or 50 in excess of the number specified in the grant). Over the central hall and under the belfry, it is proposed to provide a teachers' room, with balcony outlook, reached by a stairway from below. All the rooms are provided with ample lighting, heating and ventilating arrangements, the tfoof being laid with tilea. The building toe been so designed as to-ellow of future extension, on practically similar lines, on the left side of the main entrance.
