A HOCKEY DISPUTE.
TROUBLE OVER A TEAM. (By Telegrapli.-Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. A somewhat peculiar position has arisen in connection with the representative hockey team to play Auckland on Saturday" for the Challenge Shield. selector, who was appointed shortly after the season commenced, chose one teim to represent the Thames against Auckland. This apparently did not satisfy the delegates »i the Hockey Association, and they adopted the. somewhat unusual course of .selecting a team (themseJlvt?.*. The selector announces ■that the following hockey team will represent Thames - n-o.il, Menzics: fullbacks. Rock lev unil Driver: halves, T.ro- ' kenshjre, 1,. Whittnkor, and J. Griftin; forwards. Thompson, Brownlee, E. Whittalcer, Mart,in. and Renshaw. Emergencies—L. Driliin. A. Kosking (forwards). .1. Rickards, Newman (backs). Seeing that hockey players have, some important matches ahead of them on tour, it is to Ix 2 regretted that there should be divided opinion. Some of the playere have expressed their intention not to play, so that the best interests of the game itself is likely to suffer.
