FOOTBALL CONFERENCE.
ONE CODE FOR AUSTRALIA. UT-LE PROSPECT OF AGREEMENT. (Received 9-55 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. An inter-State conference of representatives of football organisations discussed the question of establishing a universal Australian game. In reply to a question, one delegate declared that there was no prospect whatever of Rugby followers giving way in regard to the off-side. rule. Another replied, "That settles it."
Jir. McKeown, a New Zealand delegate, thought thr.t a game could be evolved which would be trie Australian game perfected. The Northern Union game, as played by the professional All'Jßlacks, had come to stay in New Zealand. No decision was reached.
