The New W-n'tekanri Gold Mining Comlany have completed by cyanide process "he treatment of the tailing* from the. .Ast crushing for a return nf HOoz 12d\vt of-melted bullion, worth £55. THAMES DEEP LEVELS. (By Telegraph.—Own Con-e?P"udeul.) THAMES, this day. The Thames Deep Levels Committee {Messrs. Dawson, Aicken, McCullougb Hudson. Knee.bone. and Sheath (secretary) visited the field to-day aud inspected the Big Pump shaft, which, as Mr. Moyie explained, is 040 ft. down. He suggested deepening it tn 1.000 ft., then crosscut from the Queen nf Beauty to the Saxon, and then to Big Pump, aud thus drain, and explore the whole flat. Mr. H. Adams explained that the. May Queen proposed to make a crosscut from the Queen of Beauty to the May Queen shaft, thence along the Moanataiari boundary, on the other side of the slide to the Kuranui Caledonian, the estimated cost being about £12,000. The committee will meet the mine managers to-night.

PROGRESS MIXES OF I\"EW ZEAJjAXD. (Prom Our Special Correspondent.) LONDON, July 10. The report of the Progress Mines of 'Kew Zealand, Ltd.. for 190", to be submitted at the meeting in London next week, states that during the year 55,305 tons of ore were treated, and the sum of £97,400 realised from gold. This amount, together with £863 received for interest, etc., makes the total gross revenue for the year £98,264, a decrease compared -with the previous year of £5,438, tne tonnago treated being also 3.795 tons less. Expenditure in New Zealand and London amounted to £60,773, leaving a profit of £37.400. This sum, added to the balance of £29,330 brought forward, gives a total of £60,821, out of — sebieh £4.103 has been written off. £3,485 for depreciation. £2883- for income-tax, and £300 carried to reserve, leaving a; balance of £.55.958. Dividends amounting to 2/6 per share have been paid, leaving to be carried forward £21,583. In cansccjuence of J.he serious falling off in the value of the ore crushed since the close of the financial year, and the increased working costs, the directors decided that it was not advisable to declare the interim dividend of 1/- per share •Usually paid the end of April. The •development in the mine in No 11 level has disclosed wnat appears to be a valu-

able ore body containing high grade quartz, but largely owing to its extraordinary position the working costs have ■been seriously auected. The crushing returns, however, since the end of the year show a large failing off in the value of the stopes in the upper levels. As regards extraction, the experiments carried out by Johnson and Sons, Ltd., have been satisfactorily concluded. Unforeseen difficulties arose in the course or rneir experimental tests, but the principle of Messrs. Johnson,3 process has been established, and the necessary plans are being prepared with a view to placing the order for the additional plant required. The Company's holi-interest in the Black- _ jreaier mine .has been satisfied by the (lilotinent to it of 100.000 shares. CONSOLIDATED GOLDFIELDS. (From Our Special Correspondent.) 1 LONDOX July 10. Expenditure in New Zealand and London amounted to £34,374, leaving a "gross profit of £36,311. This, added ■to.the balance of £34,247 from the preceding year, gives a total of £70.558, out of which £15:693 has been written off for depreciation, £SO6 for income-tax, and £300 carried to reserve agains tdoubtful debts, leaving a balance of £53,759, which has been appropriated as follows:—Divi-

dend No. 9 of 1/6 (7§ per cent) per -«ha-re, paid October, £18,178. The balance carried forward amounts to £35.581. With a view to improving the gold extraction at the Wealth of Nations mine, the reduction plant is now being remodelled, and tube mills and B. and M. cyanide tanks erected. These alterations whilst they are being made will, to a certain extent, interfere with the ordinary battery routine, but no great loss of milling is anticipated. The 100,000 shares in the Bla.kwater mine, due to the Company in satisfaction of its half-interest, have been duly allotted, and are now held by the Company. ' The Company's holding in Progress shares remains at 160,000 shares. MINE MANAGERS' EEPORTS.
