SHAREMARKET. Although prices are still low for a number of stocks on the Exchange, several .transactions., took...place this morning in investment shares. Ordinary Trams sold at 23/. and N.Z. Cement at 25/9. Taupiri_ Coal were easier, being sold down to 18/0, while Hikurangis ehanprd hands et 10/tf-cum div. Shares in three southern mine were in request, and sold at higher figures. Blackwaters being placed at 23/6, Consolidated Gold)----fields at 16/fi, :in(l Progress Mine 3at 12/0. iShares in local mining companies were somewhat neglfeted, although Talismans sold at 45/3, May Queens-at 3/-, and Waihi Extenders at" 3/8." A "sharp drop took place in Crowns for some reason that Las not yet transpired, sales being made from o/n to 5/3 at the first call, but by noon transactions had taken place at 5/6, alter which more shares were' placed at 2d_ lower. Tansriaro shares were a trifle better, contributing issu c being sold at 1/7, andi for Sylvias 1/5 wae paid. OLD HAURAKI. The manager telegraphed this morning:—"Crushed and treated 40 tons of general ore and 1-2 lbs. of picked stone for a return of 48 ozs. of retorted gold." This should be worth about £150. SOUTHERN" QUEEN. _ The manager telegraphed this mornißg —-Broke down the reef in the western slopes. Selected 101b. of picked etone." MAY QUEEN. A sale of shares in the May Queen GJVT. Co. was advertised for to-day, but did not take place, as all the calls were paid before the hour fixed for the auction. IHNE iIAMAGERS - REPORTS. Coronation.—The winze on the main reef has been sunk 5 feet 6 inches fo- the fortmgnt The dish prospects are poor. Ngatiawa.—The drive- west on the footwail of the main reef has been extended 1' feet during tne week. A portion of the reef slipped off. which looks v«ry encoara"mg. A start will shortly be made to put a crosscut through the reef again near the end of the drive, to ascertain its thickness and value. Beady Bullion.—The leader in the face of the drive north uas pinched to HLn. All of It carries g-old, and prospects can be got all over the—face at The drive. Tairua Consols. —The low level is in 335 feet. A distance of 4ft has been driven through hard flinty quartz, with no sign of the wail yet. No. 2 level has been extended another Sft through firm sandstone country.
