(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) A GOOD EXAMPLE. PALMEESTON NORTH, Thursday. The ballot recently held by circular in connection with the choice of an Opposition candidate for the Orua seat resulted in Mr Guthrie being nominated. Mr Atkinson, the other Opposition candidate for the seat, congratulated Mr Guthrie, and promised him all possible assistance. The polling was very heavy, and conj siderable interest was taken in the result. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. CHRISTCHUECH, Thursday. The young man John Trigance, who was injured by falling over a cliff at Purau, on Friday, died last evening in the Lyttelton casualty ward. The little girl Gibbons, who was severely burned at St. Albans yesterday morning, died in the hospital. At the inquest to-day, after hearing the evidence of Dr Cooke, and of the child's mother, a verdict of "Accidentally burned" was returned.
