YESTERDAY. TRANSACTION IN CATTLE. The case Id which the Auckland Farmers' Unlor Ltd., sued Walter Absolum for £50 10/S i .■ stocU alleged to huve been sold to him, was continued yesterday. At the pre- ; vloua hearing Charles Xcwnun, oue of tho witnesses for the defendant, was joined as ! defendant. Mr. C. J. I'arr appeared for the plaintiffs, Mr. Hackelt fot Absolum, and XI r. McGregor for Newman. After hearing the evidence, Mr. Kettle said there was no doubt In his jnind that Newmau had really bought these cnltle himself, but in Absolum's name. Intending to speculate with them on his own account or Jointly with Absolnm. Absolum had s-worn, and he saw no reason to doubt his evidence, that he was not concerned in tho transaction Judg- i ment was given against Newman for £;10 j and costs, and a non-suit wa» entered with I respect to Absolum. ; A DISPUTED LOA>". ! A claim for £5, money alleged to hare I been lent, was made by Sarah Helen Jones I against her brother, John Utherland The plaintiff declared that she lent the 'money to the defendant in order that he ml"ht purchase some clothes. lie had not repaid It.
