HARBOUR BOARD.
The Harbour Board met in committee at 2 p.m. lu-uuj. Present: The lion. E. Mitchelson (chairman), Messrs. H. Heather. C. C. Ducre. Captain McKenzie. U. W. Basley, J. B. Macfarlane, H. Bradney, A. J; Kntrican, A. E. Glover. Shed for Island Fruit.—The Lmon S.fe. Co. wrote re providing a proper shed for the island fruit. It was decided, on the inotiou of Mr. Macfarlane, to recommend a reply be sent that when the new wharf was erected, special provision would be iuiide for a bhed for island fruit. Mr. Glover said the island fruit trade was very important for Auckland, and they must have the shed near the fumigating place. The chairman suid there was uo hope on either the Queer.-street or Hobson-street wharves. Mr. Glover pointed oot that for nil the Cook Island fruit the return was altvnys in articles of trade. It was also decided Lhat in the meantime Uie engineer report ns to improving the ventilation of the sheds on the Hobson-street wharf. Queen's Parade. —With regard to the request from Devonport Council for timber to rt-puir BiiffroachmeiitK lunde by the sea on QueptTs Parade, it was decided to reply that the Board hurt no timber to spare Removal of Uorks.-The Devonport Connnl also asked permission to ijuurry stone from the rocks on the Ma front.
