CANTERBURY DEFEATS "W____NG*_*DN (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WE___NGT_N, Wednesday. Despite a cold, biting southerly wind and l_rern_tr_nt rain, The hockey match between the Ciiuterbury end Wellington representatives »pluyed at Day's Bay this afternoon, wus a good one. The Canterbury men were the more nimble, beating Wellington for -the ball frequently, and they showed superior combination. The first spell ended with Canterbury leading by two goals (shot by Hulston and Jacobs) to Wellington's nil. In the second half HilDert scored for Canterbury and Elliott for Wellington, the game thus ending: Canterbury, 3 goals; Wellington. 1 goal. MANAWATU T. AUCKLAND. (By Telegrap..—Own Correspondent.)
