A young unmarried man named Probert was fatally injured at the Waikino battery to-day, and died about an hour after, the accident occurred. It appears that he was caught in ihe elevator wheel and carried up to the where he was fearfully crushed before the machinery could be Btopped. An inquest is to be held. The deceased was a son of Mr W. Probert, builder, of Newton-road.
