EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.
m —__ (From Our Own Correspondent) CAMBRIDGE. Monday. The eighth week of the second competition promoted by tbe North'lsland Egg-laying Competition Association, Ltd., at Cambridge, was concluded on Friday, July 10. The following particulars are supplied by Mr. A. B. Trythall, secretary to the competition:— The number of eggs laid during the week was 4052. being an average of 89.5!) eggs per pen. The weather during the week was wet, windy, and generally unfavourable. Highest layings for the week:—Light breeds. A. Dcutori, Leamington, Brown Leghorns, 82; A. R. Browne, Ilawke's Bay, White Leghorns, 31; E. li. Hill, Cambridge, White. Leghorns, 29; 11. Leger, Weraroa, Levin, White Leghorns, 27; G. S. Pearson, Kirikiriron, White Leghorns, 20. Heavy breeds: C. Hamtnoud, Ruaktira, White Rocks. SO: Muller Bros., Cambridge. Black Orpingtons, 2!); J. I. Whitchouse, Matntoke; Buir Orpingtons, 28; Misses K. and B. lloldeii. Te Aroha, White Wynndottes, 225; Chamber of Commerce, Cambridge, White Orpingtons, 21. Leading pens to date are:—Light breeds: Harrison and oration, Avondale. White Leghorns 100; A. R. Browne, Hnwke's. Bay, White Leghorns. IS2; G. Hall, Leamington, White Leghorns, ir,2: G. S. Pearson, Kirikiriroa.
