SURPLUS REVENUE BILL.
STATE PREMIERS' ATTITUDE. (Received ICLS a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. A ® a result of dissatisfaction amongst the "State Premiers over powers claimed by the Federal Government under the Surplus Revenue Act to retain money in connection with the old a ge pensions scheme, which was followed by a wordy warfare between Mr. Wade, Premier of i New South Wales, and the Federal Minis-' ters, Mr. Wade has undertaken to do all he can to re-open the question. He is agreeable to accept Mr. "Deakin's challenge to allow the Surplus Revenue Act to remain in abeyance as far as pensions are concerned, providing the State Governments allow the Commonwealth to retain sufficient revenue for the payment of pensions.
