(To the Editor.) Sir, —The information that the Parliamentary members intend coming !o Auckland by the Main Trunk railway lire to he present at the reception of the American fleet, suggested to my mind that as the people of Auckland have had to wait so long for the completion of thi. lino it would be a graceful act on the part of the Government to give us in the North Island a free trip at the official opening. It is just possible that thi_» might be as good a way of spending some of our borrowed money as entertaining the Americans is.—l am, etc., HORr. Matakohe, June 22, 1908.
