LABOUR IN GERMANY
TRADES UNION MOVEMENT. TWO MILLION MEMBERS. BERLIN, June 23. Carl Legien, a Socialist member of the Reichstag, addressing the German Trades I Unions' Congress at Hamburg, claimed! that the free unionists now totalled ; nearly two million members, constituting j the largest and most united organisation ' in the world. This grand result had been i attained in spite of the continual opposi- j tion of the ruling classes and the Government. Hen- Legien complained that the new associations law showed that the Government was still bent on opposing the labour movement. _ -_ .
